In the late 1940s, Symmons patented a full pressure balancing mixing valve, which has become an industry standard. Pressure-balanced tub and tub/shower valves maintain a pre-selected shower temperature by instantly and continually equalizing or “balancing” the water pressure when demands on the water supply are made, such as when a faucet is turned on, or a toilet is flushed. With the Symmons Pressure Balance System, the bather is protected.
